Background

Over the past 33 years Drydocks World-Dubai has become a leading provider of marine and offshore services to the shipping, oil, gas and energy sectors. The range of services provided includes Offshore and Engineering, Ship/Rig Repair and Maintenance, Shipbuilding and Conversion, Rig Building and Refurbishment, FPSO/FSO Conversion, Offshore Fabrication, Maritime Clusters, Yacht Repairs and Fleet operations. Conceived as an ambitious project under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum the late ruler of Dubai, the yard is strategically located in a rapidly developing region of the world.

Drydocks World maintains high HSEQ and operational excellence standards, utilizing the yards world-class infrastructure to exceed the expectations of clients. The dedicated workforce and state-of-the-art facilities at Drydocks World on average complete over 300 projects per year, with a record of handling 42 refurbishment projects simultaneously.

The yard is spread over 200 hectares, 4 dry docks, with the largest dock capable of handling the world's largest ship, and over 3,700m of berth space. Innovative projects for key global players have been constructed in Drydocks World, breaking records for some of the largest new build offshore fabrication projects worldwide.

In recognition of our excellent services and world-first projects, Drydocks World has received numerous awards and accolades including consecutively winning the prestigious Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2015 in the manufacturing category, which is the highest level of national recognition for business performance excellence in the UAE. The Electrical Workshop of Drydocks World Dubai is an active member of EASA and AEMT, and provides a total solution for all HV/LV motors, DC motors, alternators and all type of rotating electrical equipments. The workshop has the following capacities and capabilities:

• Lifting capacity of 100T
• Large baking ovens
• Varnishing facility
• Dynamic balancing machine of 20T non symmetric load and 28T symmetric load
• Trouble shooting, overhauling, rewinding and testing of all types of machine, rating up to 17MW, 11kV capacity
• Major electrical machine rewinding, repairing and overhauling workshop
• Experts in repairing/re-barring squirrel cage rotors
• Repairing, restacking and having the capability of core loss analysis of stator and rotor core laminations
• Repair/manufacture/renew rotor shaft & ; insulated bearing housings
• Repair/manufacture end shields
• Manufacture and recondition slip-rings
• Overhauling all types of oil filled/air cooled HV transformer
• Calibrate and test various precision instruments
• Overhauling, repairing and testing of ACB's and switchgears
• On-site condition monitoring, vibration analysis, laser alignment, thermal imaging, trouble shooting, replace bearing of large rotating machines, re-installation of rotating equipment
• Certified technicians to carry out HV terminations and testing
